Vacuum Furnace & Heat Treatment Oven Engineer

Summary Of The Position:

The successful candidate will report to the site Facilities Manager.
The main focus of the role will be to ensure the smooth running of the Vacuum Furnaces and Heat Treatment Ovens (Solution, Ageing and paint curing).


• To ensure trouble-free operation of Vacuum Furnaces and Heat Treatment ovens across site.
• Fault finding and repair of vacuum heat treatment equipment when required.
• Assist in the maintenance of Heat Treatment Nadcap accreditation.
• Co-ordination of calibration and periodic testing on all vacuum furnaces and equipment.
• Develop and carry out regular TPM of all vacuum furnaces and associated equipment.
• Carry out minor servicing of vacuum pumps and vacuum equipment when required.
• Co-ordinate major servicing of equipment when required.
• Create/establish and maintain critical spares and consumables.
• Working with and supervision of existing maintenance personnel.
• Training of existing maintenance personnel.
• Adaptability & Flexibility – willingness to change working pattern at short notice to suit maintenance schedules & breakdowns

Key Skills:

• Essential qualifications include: Time served City and Guilds / NVQ apprenticeship. Engineering HNC.
• Excellent communication skills- Must be able to communicate at all levels.
• Support in daily Tier meetings
• Mandatory compliance with EH&S Policy, report unsafe practices or conditions to supervision for prompt resolution, attend scheduled EH&S training programs, actively support the meeting of EH&S targets and plans, and recommend improved EH&S practices wherever possible.
• Knowledge of current and past operating systems.
• Knowledge of electrical circuitry and control panels is desirable.
• Experience of aerospace or automotive manufacturing processes.
• Heat Treatment & vacuum brazing knowledge in Light and Non Light Alloy materials is desirable.
• Support ACE activities (5S, TPM, Turnbacks, Quality Clinics)
