Lead Maintenance Engineers

An industry-leading manufacturing services company in the Luton/Dunstable area is looking to recruit a LEAD MAINTENANCE ENGINEER in a permanent position which would be a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Multi-Skilled or Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking for your next career step.

The role is to:
• Lead the shift and ensure the service, monitor and repair all equipment in a safe and efficient manner during productive and non-productive shifts.
• Include liaising with on site management with regards to taking equipment for service /repair as necessary giving suitable timelines.
• React to changing priorities based on shift issues as appropriate and make effective decisions.

The working week runs Monday to Sunday and the pattern of work is based on a 4-week rotating pattern resulting in an average of 40.25 standard working hours per week. Each working day is 12 hours (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am)inclusive of a 30 minute in-shift break.

Flexibility regarding start and finish times to suit customer demands is required. It is a term of the contract that the individual will work all rota’d days (inclusive of bank holidays, Saturdays and Sundays where a rota’d working day falls on one of these days) unless authorised as annual leave in accordance with our policy. The Company reserves the right to allocate annual leave to any rota’d day over Christmas and New Year when our client’s premises will be closed. By accepting this contract the individual agrees to work all rota’d days and additional hours as requested. It is expected that any reasonable request will not be refused

Hours worked in excess of the rota’d hours in each Monday to Sunday period are paid at a rate of 1.5 x your hourly rate.

Key Accountabilities

* Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting electrical, electronic and mechanical problems on machines
* Drive a pro-active maintenance and repair approach
* Ensure that adequate and appropriate spare parts are readily available

Qualifications/Experience required

* Electrically competent. Minimum of C&G236 Level 3 or equivalent.
* Proven experience as a multi-skilled engineer with the ability to carry out some mechanical repairs
* Read and fault find from electrical and electronic schematic drawings
* Experience working with a mechanical maintenance schedule
* Inverter and PLC experience (desirable not essential)
* Knowledge of fluid power systems (desirable not essential)
* Training and development of others including apprentices (desirable not essential)

Time-served maintenance engineers would be equally encouraged to apply for these roles.

Good verbal communication is critical as well as the ability to communicate technical information to managers, suppliers and OEMs.

The successful candidates will be self-motivated and have the ability to apply initiative when tackling repairs and maintenance.

Computer literacy with knowledge of Windows operating systems would be required.
